Return to School
We want to thank everyone for the tremendous support you provided for our students during the week of online learning that has now come to an end. We know that many of our students needed a significant amount of help to participate in the online learning and we certainly appreciate the support you provided to them. We are looking forward to our students returning to the school on Monday, January 11th. We will continue to prioritize safety as we continue to follow all of the safety protocols that have been in place all year. We are going to continue to limit access to the school for parents for the time being. You are welcome to come into the school if you have an appointment but otherwise please help us to limit social contact here at the school by dropping off and picking up your children outside the school. The only exception to this is for parents who have children in Preschool or in the On My Way program if it is necessary to help their children transition into the classroom.
School Council
Our School Council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, January 19th. We will be meeting here at the school in our Assembly Room so that we have a little more room to spread out. Our meetings begin at 6:00 PM and are finished by 8:00. Please contact me at the school if you would like more information on being a part of the School Council.
Donations to Vera M Welsh Elementary
We are pleased to announce that we applied for and received a donation from Servus Credit Union that will allow us to provide milk once a week for our students to enjoy with their lunch meal.
We also applied for and received a donation from President’s Choice Children’s Charity for $9,000 to add more fruit to our students’ lunches for the rest of the school year.
We are also pleased to announce that we received $1,550 as part of a larger $40,000 donation that CNRL made to Northern Lights Public School to support student achievement and engagement.
